WINTER IN UKRAINE

In the Sumy and Poltava regions, thanks to the support of ‪@Aicscooperazione‬, AVSI is organising recreational activities for the children and psychosocial activities for the parents.

Every month the ‪@WorldFoodProgramme‬ in Kharkiv delivers 10,000 boxes. Many of the people who receive these boxes are internally displaced people and families in which there are many children. These distributions take place in Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava.

Interview with Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra — a 4,000-kilometre march across India, from Kanyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north, between September 2022 and January 2023. Led by Gandhi and the Indian National Congress, the march set out to reconnect politics with ordinary people and promote a message of national unity in response to growing social, religious and political divisions in the country.

Thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), the possibility of rebuilding after the destruction caused by ISIS in Iraq is taking shape in Qaraqosh and Duhok.

By helping local communities restart their agricultural activities, projects implemented by AVSI Middle East aim to support economic recovery and foster the inclusion of Yazidi families.

THE ENTREF PROJECT IN BURUNDI

Aline Ngozi has always had the desire to study and graduate, but unable to afford to continue her studies, she started her own small business selling fruits and vegetables. However, the lack of entrepreneurial skills posed a significant challenge to her entrepreneurial journey. In 2022, Aline met AVSI and gained access to the #ENTREF project. This initiative, funded by the European Union in Burundi, provided her not only with financial education but also the opportunity to collaborate in a cooperative with other women. Thanks to the new skills acquired in financial management, Aline revitalized her entrepreneurial commitment. The profits from her business enabled her to enroll in university and fulfill her dream of graduating.

As Ursula says, we may not be able to solve decades-long conflicts or a profound economic crisis. But we can stand by every child we meet and support their family with humanity and care. And that is what we love about our work, and what makes it sustainable.
