Sara Melotti is a storyteller:
documentary photographer, filmmaker and writer, her work focuses on travel stories and social & humanitarian issues.
Born and raised in Northern Italy Sara moved to the States right after high school. She started her professional journey in the fashion photography industry. A few months from the first click Sara turned her newly found passion into a full time career that brought her to work with designers in Milan, London, NYC, LA and Hong Kong. After 3 years working as a fashion photographer she started to feel torn inside as she realised the kind of images she was producing were contributing to create very unrealistic standards of beauty that made women suffer.
In 2015 she left the fashion industry and created QUEST FOR BEAUTY, a photography project that took her on a solo journey across four continents in search of the true meaning of Beauty.
While traveling, she shifted her focus toward travel stories and social and humanitarian issues, documenting gender-based violence in India, refugee and IDPs camps in Iraq, drug addiction in Zanzibar, and the war in Ukraine, while also working on numerous other projects alongside non-governmental organizations.
Throughout the years Sara developed a good and organic following on social media, also thanks to her controversial expose article ‘Instagram created a monster’ who got her mentions in the New York Times, Daily Mail, Vanity Fair, Huffington Post, Sunday Times and many more.
She published two books “La Felicità è una scelta” (Piemme, 2021), “Chiudi gli occhi e cercami” (Vallardi, 2026).
She’s now based in Italy and keeps traveling, working with brands, agencies and NGOs across the globe, telling stories of places, cultures, traditions but, above all, stories of people.
